The Final Weeks

The past two weeks have been quite busy finishing work, enjoying our last bit of time in Freo, and wrapping things up.  Last weekend, we shopped around Fremantle, went to the West Australian Symphony Orchestra outdoor concert in Perth, went to Benny’s (our fave Freo bar) with Jay, and went to the Beach on Sunday.  Kara’s mother, Jodi arrived Sunday afternoon to spend the last week with us before traveling

I finished my final week of work- and passed :)  Although I was ready to be finished, I am a bit sad to leave.  I really enjoyed working with the children and think I will look for jobs in pediatrics when I graduate.  All the therapists were wonderful and taught me so much about OT.  On Thursday, we had an OT Christmas lunch at The View.

Thursday afternoon, we went to King’s Park again so Jodi could see the lovely views.

Friday evening, Julie, Kara, Jodi and I went to Little Creatures for dinner and some drinks to celebrate the end of our fieldwork.  We drank our favorite Pipsqueak Cider and had surf and turf (Octopus and Kangaroo).  On Saturday, we returned to Rottnest Island (where we went our first weekend).  We were a bit annoyed by the intense wind and heaps of flies in the morning, but the afternoon was much better.  We spent time at multiple beautiful bays/beaches and swam in the crystal clear water.  We were so happy that the weather was perfect so Jodi could enjoy the beautiful island.

Saturday evening, Jay came over and we went to Benny’s for one final night in Freo.  We had such a great time and were sad to say goodbye to some great new friends.  I think Kara, Julie, and I will have to plan a reunion and come back soon!

Today, we enjoyed an amazing experience taking a painting class from Neta, an aboriginal woman.  She taught us about various tribal symbols and the meanings behind them.  My painting has symbolic meanings of my family, which I will explain at home :)  It was quite interesting to learn about the aboriginal culture and Nita’s experiences.
